One Health is an idea conceptualized by Dr. Shashikant Rajaram Shinde. A Medical graduate from Mumbai University, Dr Shashikant has been practicing as a General Practitioner since 2000 in one of the most backward areas near Thane. After practicing for some period and to expand his horizon in the health sector, he pursued his Maters in Social Work (MSW) from the prestigious, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS)-Mumbai with Health and Development as his concentration.

During his PG, Dr Shashikant completed his research on the subject “Medical Malpractices as perceived by Medical Practitioners”. In course of the research, Dr Shashikant witnessed many negatives of the health sector in India and the helplessness of the current stakeholders of the system. This was an inspiration for him to apply his medical and social knowledge to try and address the concerning issues
